Description Tour Overview
The Tea, Coffee & Chocolate Route in Cusco – 2 days / 1 night is a living eco-adventure experience that invites you to discover the flavors, aromas, and traditions of the high jungle. This tour combines tropical landscapes, agricultural culture, and direct contact with local communities, in a unique natural setting located in the Huayopata Valley, just four hours from the city of Cusco.
First, you will embark on a scenic journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the mountain pass of Abra Málaga, where you will enjoy spectacular views between the Andes and the cloud forest.
Then, you will arrive at a cozy ecolodge in Huayopata, where you will be welcomed with a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit a local estate to learn about Peruvian tea plantations and participate in their harvest. You will learn about the industrialization process of black, green, and white tea, and taste their varieties in a natural and serene environment.
At dusk, you can join a guided walk through the forest, ideal for bird and nocturnal mammal watching.
The next day, you will start with a morning walk to observe native birds such as the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, followed by a tropical breakfast. Then, you will visit coffee plots, where you will get involved in the entire process: from cultivation and harvest to drying, roasting, and the artisanal preparation of high-altitude organic coffee. You will enjoy a guided tasting of the coffee you have prepared yourself.
Later, you will explore cocoa plantations, where you will learn about its cultivation, participate in fruit picking, and observe how it is transformed into artisanal chocolate. You will finish the experience with a delicious tasting of cocoa-derived products.
Finally, around 5:30 p.m., you will begin your return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 9:00 p.m., with the memory of an authentic experience, full of flavor, nature, and tradition.
