Humantay Lagoon is one of the most impressive and spiritual natural destinations in the Cusco region. It is nestled in the foothills of the Vilcabamba mountain range, at the foot of the snow-capped Humantay mountain, at an altitude of approximately 4,200 m.a.s.l. Its stunning turquoise color is a product of glacial melt, which gives it a special glow under the sunlight and makes it a true visual spectacle.
This magical place is part of the famous Salkantay trekking circuit, considered one of the most popular routes to Machu Picchu. To reach the lagoon, a moderate-difficulty hike of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes is undertaken, starting from the community of Soraypampa, located about 2 km from the destination.
During the ascent, visitors have the opportunity to contemplate a dreamlike landscape: snow-capped mountains, clear skies, Andean vegetation, and animals such as llamas or alpacas.
