Description Tour Itinerary

  1. Cusco – Tinke – Upis – Thermal Baths

We start the adventure early with pickup from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. and head to the town of Tinke, located at the foot of Ausangate. There we will enjoy a nutritious local breakfast. Then, we begin the hike to Upis (at 4,140 m.a.s.l.), for approximately 2.5 hours, crossing rural Andean landscapes. Upon arriving in Upis, we will have lunch with typical local products. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the natural thermal baths surrounded by mountains or take an optional hike to the Upis lagoon. Finally, we will have dinner and spend the night camping under a starry sky.

  2. Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha Lagoon

After breakfast at 5:00 a.m., we begin the ascent to the Arapa Pass (4,800 m a.s.l.). This hike takes us for approximately 5 hours, through high Andean puna landscapes, surrounded by llamas and alpacas. From the top, you can contemplate the contrast of the snowy mountains and green valleys. We will then descend to the Pucacocha lagoon, where we will set up our camp. After lunch, we will have free time to rest or explore the surroundings. We end the day with a comforting dinner.

  3. Pucacocha – Warmisaya Pass – Cayrahuiri

The day begins with breakfast facing the mountains and the lagoon. We start the ascent to the Pucacocha Pass (5,100 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the trek, where the air feels purer and the landscape, more majestic. The view of Ausangate from here is truly impressive. We descend towards the Ananta valley, where we will have lunch. Then, we continue walking towards the Warmisaya Pass, and further on, we reach the Cayrahuiri camp. This day is one of the most spectacular due to the views and the physical challenge it represents.

  4. Cayrahuiri – Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley – Cusco

We have an early breakfast and begin the final climb to the iconic Vinicunca, known as the Rainbow Mountain. The ascent is demanding, but the panoramic views reward every effort. You will have time to explore the area, take photos, and breathe the Andean air at more than 5,000 m.a.s.l. We continue towards the Red Valley, a little-visited but incredibly beautiful place due to its reddish geological formations. We finish the tour with a buffet lunch at “La Montaña”. Then, we begin the return to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 p.m.
